Google is preparing to retire one of Gmail’s long-standing features for personal accounts.
Beginning in January 2027, users will no longer be able to send emails from third-party email addresses through Gmail using the “Send as” feature.
The feature has allowed Gmail users to send messages from external email accounts such as Yahoo Mail, Outlook, Hotmail, or custom domain addresses without leaving Gmail. It has been especially useful for people managing multiple email accounts from a single inbox.
Google has already started notifying users who currently rely on the feature. New users can no longer set up “Send as” for third-party accounts, while existing users will be able to continue using it until January 2027, when the feature will be permanently disabled.
The change only affects personal Google accounts. Google Workspace users and people using “Send as” with other Gmail aliases will not be impacted.
