Google is officially launching Search Live across the United States, giving users the ability to search by talking to an AI assistant in real-time.
The feature not only answers questions instantly but also surfaces relevant links from the web to provide additional context.
To use Search Live, open the Google app on Android or iOS and tap the new “Live” button under the search bar. From there, you can ask questions out loud and even turn on your camera so the AI can analyze what you’re looking at. The feature is also integrated into the Google Lens app, allowing you to have a back-and-forth conversation while sharing your camera feed.
Google says Search Live can help with a wide range of tasks. For example, you could learn how to make matcha by showing the tools you’ve bought and asking what each one does, or use it while setting up new electronics, asking the AI where a specific cable goes by pointing your camera at the device.
Previously, Search Live was only available as an experimental feature within Google Labs, but now it’s rolling out to everyone in the US. For now, the feature is only available in English.
