Google has officially released its Gemini Live voice chat feature for all Android users, making the conversational AI tool accessible without a subscription.
Previously limited to Gemini Advanced subscribers, this voice-enabled chatbot can now be accessed for free through the Gemini app or its overlay.
First introduced during Google’s Pixel 9 launch event, Gemini Live functions similarly to ChatGPT’s voice chat feature. Users can ask questions aloud and even interrupt the AI mid-sentence, creating a more dynamic and interactive experience. Additionally, Google offers a variety of voice options for users to choose from, adding a personalized touch to the interaction.
To use Gemini Live, users can tap the new waveform icon located in the bottom-right corner of the app or overlay, which activates the microphone for voice queries. Once a question is asked, users can either pause Gemini’s response with the “hold” option or end the conversation entirely using the “end” button.

Currently, Gemini Live is only available in English, but Google plans to expand the feature to iOS and introduce support for additional languages in the future. This broader release marks a significant step in Google’s push to enhance its AI offerings, bringing advanced conversational capabilities to a wider audience.
