Google has released a new experimental search app for Windows PCs that aims to make finding information faster and easier.
With a simple Alt + Space shortcut, users can instantly search through files on their computer, installed apps, Google Drive, and the web.
The tool works much like Apple’s Spotlight search on Mac, giving quick access to anything on a device or online. The app is available through Search Labs, Google’s program for testing early features before wider rollout.
Built-in Google Lens lets users search anything on their screen, including translating text in images, solving math problems, and more. The app also includes AI Mode, which allows people to ask complex, multi-part questions and get richer answers.
Users can toggle between different search categories like all results, AI, images, shopping, videos, and more — plus there’s a dark mode option.
The app is currently available in English, for U.S. users, and requires a PC running Windows 10 or newer.
