Google has released a Chrome security update addressing 52 vulnerabilities, including four critical-severity flaws, with assistance from Anthropic’s Claude AI.
The update highlights how artificial intelligence is increasingly helping security researchers discover vulnerabilities in widely used software.
The security issues affect several Chrome components, including FileSystem and Skia. Google credited Anthropic researcher Xinyang Ge for contributions to the vulnerability research.
Anthropic’s Frontier Red Team reported 62 CVEs across browsers, Android and other software. The research included attack chains demonstrating how vulnerabilities could be combined to escape Chrome’s security sandbox on macOS and achieve root access on Linux without requiring user interaction.
All the reported vulnerabilities were responsibly disclosed and patched, according to the report. The findings demonstrate how AI-assisted security research can help identify complex software flaws and potentially accelerate the discovery of vulnerabilities that traditionally require extensive manual analysis.
Chrome users should install the latest available version to protect their systems against the patched security issues. To check for updates, open Chrome, navigate to Settings, select About Chrome, and allow the browser to download and install any available update.
