Ford is investigating claims of a data breach after a hacker named “EnergyWeaponUser” allegedly leaked 44,000 customer records on the BreachForums hacking platform, BleepingComputer reports.

The breach reportedly occurred in November 2024, with another hacker, “IntelBroker,” also implicated in the incident.

The leaked data includes customer names, physical addresses, purchase details, dealer information, and record timestamps. Although the exposed information is not highly sensitive, it could be used for phishing or social engineering attacks. The dataset was made available on the hacker forum for just eight credits, equivalent to about $2.

Ford is actively investigating the matter. In a statement to BleepingComputer, the company confirmed it is aware of the allegations and is conducting a thorough inquiry. The involvement of “IntelBroker,” who has previously been linked to breaches involving Cisco, Nokia, Europol, and T-Mobile, adds weight to the claims.

Customers are advised to remain vigilant against unsolicited communications and avoid sharing personal details in response to suspicious requests. Ford’s investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected as the situation develops.
