Google has given Fitbit users more time to switch their accounts to a Google account. The company has extended the deadline to May 19, 2026, moving it from the earlier February 2 date that was just days away.
This update was quietly reflected on Google’s official Fitbit help page.
For users who have not yet completed the migration, this extension offers some breathing room. However, the message remains clear. After May 19, users who do not move their Fitbit accounts to a Google account will lose access to their profiles and the historical data linked to them. To avoid losing this information, users must either complete the migration or download their data before the deadline.
Google has also shared more clarity about when Fitbit data will be permanently removed. The company says it will begin processing data deletions on July 15, 2026. This means users will still have a short window of time after the migration deadline to download or delete their Fitbit data if they choose not to continue using the service under a Google account.
This is not the first time Google has pushed back the deadline. The Fitbit account migration was originally planned for 2025, then delayed to February 2026, and now postponed again to May. Despite repeated extensions, Google appears firm that this will eventually be mandatory for all remaining Fitbit users.
Google did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the latest delay, but users are advised not to wait until the last moment. Anyone who still relies on a Fitbit account should review their options soon to avoid losing access to years of health and fitness data.
