The video, uploaded by Facebook user Adrian Gee on Sunday, September 14, shows the iconic French landmark burning dramatically.
No credible media outlets or official sources have reported any fire at the Eiffel Tower on that date. Multiple fact-checking organizations, including Reuters and Euronews, confirmed that the clip was created using artificial intelligence (AI) and visual effects (VFX). Paris authorities and the official Eiffel Tower channels also made no announcements regarding such an incident.
Investigations traced the footage back to a YouTube channel called Augmented One, run by a 3D artist. The original video was uploaded months earlier and clearly labeled as CGI/VFX content. The uploader even pinned a comment clarifying that the scene was digitally generated. Despite this, the video was later re-shared on Facebook and TikTok without context, misleading viewers into believing it was real.
