Coupang has announced a compensation package worth 1.69 trillion won, about 1.18 billion dollars, following a massive data leak that affected 33.7 million user accounts.
The announcement was made on Monday amid growing criticism from customers, lawmakers, and consumer rights groups.
Under the plan, each affected customer will receive vouchers worth 50,000 won.
These vouchers can only be used on Coupang’s own platforms and services. The decision has sparked strong backlash, with many saying the compensation does not truly address the seriousness of the breach.
