OpenAI is testing a new “Download as PDF” feature for ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool, making it easier for users to save and share detailed research reports without losing formatting.
ChatGPT’s Deep Research allows users to hand off complex tasks to the AI, which then searches the web, analyzes hundreds of sources, and produces a comprehensive report. While users could previously copy the report, pasting it into apps like Microsoft Word often distorted the formatting, making the content harder to read or edit.
Now, as spotted by Tibor on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI appears to be testing a PDF export option directly within the ChatGPT web app. This could help preserve the original layout of the report and improve usability. The new option is likely to appear next to the existing “Copy” button once a Deep Research report is generated.

However, it’s still unclear when this feature will roll out to all users or whether it will be limited only to Deep Research reports, rather than standard ChatGPT outputs.
