OpenAI appears to be testing a new experimental feature in ChatGPT called “Study Together,” aimed at making the chatbot a more interactive educational tool.
The feature has started appearing for some subscribers in the tools dropdown menu, though it has not been officially announced.

Unlike the traditional ChatGPT experience, users say the Study Together mode encourages learning by asking questions instead of just answering them, pushing users to engage more actively with the material. Some have compared it to Google’s recently announced LearnLM initiative. There is also speculation that the feature might evolve to support collaborative study sessions involving more than one user, similar to a virtual study group.
OpenAI has not provided any official comment or timeline for a wider rollout. ChatGPT itself notes that “OpenAI hasn’t officially announced when or if Study Together will be available to all users — or if it will require ChatGPT Plus.”
