Bluesky has introduced a much-requested feature that allows users to receive push notifications for specific accounts.
By tapping the bell icon on a profile page, users can now choose to be notified whenever that account posts new content. There is also an option to receive alerts for posts only or posts with replies included.
This addition brings Bluesky in line with platforms like Twitter, where users have long relied on account-specific notifications to follow breaking news and live updates.
The feature is expected to be particularly useful for tracking real-time developments in areas like sports and news coverage. Bluesky has previously stated that expanding its presence in sports discussions is a top priority.

The latest update also introduces more granular control over general notifications. Users can now customize alerts for various types of activity, including likes, reposts, and new followers. These settings can be adjusted to apply to activity from anyone, just people you follow, or no one at all.
Bluesky’s previous “priority notifications” feature has been integrated into the new system. Existing users who had it enabled will continue to receive alerts only from people they follow.
