OpenAI has rolled out a new version of its ChatGPT Pro subscription priced at 100 dollars per month, positioning it as a stronger option for people who rely heavily on its coding capabilities.

The company says this upgraded tier delivers five times more usage of its Codex tool compared to the 20 dollar Plus plan, making it better suited for longer and more demanding coding sessions.

This move comes as OpenAI looks to attract users who might otherwise lean toward competitors like Anthropic, whose Claude Code tool has gained significant traction. The pricing also puts ChatGPT directly against Anthropic’s Max tier, which costs the same, setting up a clear rivalry at the higher end of the market.

At the same time, OpenAI is reshaping its pricing structure by creating more flexibility between plans. The new 100-dollar option sits between the existing 20-dollar Plus tier and the more expensive 200-dollar Pro version. Despite sharing the same “Pro” label, the company notes that the higher-priced version still offers even greater usage limits.

OpenAI maintains that the Plus subscription will continue to be the most practical choice for everyday users who need steady access to Codex without pushing heavy workloads. For those who use the tool more intensively daily, the new 100 dollar tier is designed as a more accessible step up.
