OpenAI is now bringing more personalized features to free users of ChatGPT.
The company announced that it’s rolling out a “lightweight version” of the memory feature that was first introduced to paying users in April.
This means ChatGPT can now remember things you’ve shared in past chats and use that information to give more helpful and relevant responses.
Starting today, memory in ChatGPT can now reference all of your past chats to provide more personalized responses, drawing on your preferences and interests to make it even more helpful for writing, getting advice, learning, and beyond. pic.twitter.com/s9BrWl94iY

With this update, free users will notice that ChatGPT can refer to both saved memories and recent conversations during a chat. This allows it to better understand your preferences, interests, or past instructions, making interactions feel more natural and tailored over time.
The memory feature can be managed through settings, where users can see what ChatGPT remembers and choose to turn memory on or off at any time.
