Binance is working with law enforcement agencies around the world, including the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Secret Service, after hackers stole about $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency from the exchange, Reuters reported on October 30, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The report did not describe the agencies’ specific roles or provide details about the progress of any investigation. It also did not identify the source, who was described only as someone familiar with the situation.

Binance has separately said it is working with law enforcement partners to identify those responsible and trace the stolen assets. In its latest public update, the exchange said deposits were operating normally, withdrawals remained paused during a security overhaul, and it would cover losses linked to the incident. That statement did not name the FBI or Secret Service.

The report follows the $6.36 billion Binance theft, in which funds were moved from wallets across ten blockchains. Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs attributed the attack to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor, but Binance has not publicly confirmed the identity of the attackers.

The U.S. Embassy in London declined to comment to Reuters, while the Secret Service did not respond to an email request sent outside U.S. business hours.
