Apple is adding a new feature to its Find My app in iOS 18.2 that enables users to temporarily share the location of a lost AirTag with an airline or a trusted person.

According to MacRumors, which has tested the latest developer beta, this feature aims to make locating lost items, such as luggage, easier when they’re nearby.

With the new “Share Item Location” option, users can create a shareable link that allows anyone, including non-Apple device users, to view the AirTagged item’s location on a map. On Apple devices, the link opens the Find My app; on others, it opens a web page displaying the last known location. The link automatically expires after a week or once the item is recovered.

Users can also track how many people have accessed the link, and a “Show Contact Info” option lets them share contact details, making it easier for finders to reach out. This feature builds on Apple’s existing capability to continually share AirTag locations with trusted contacts, now expanding options to add temporary access without needing to revoke it later.
