Apple is planning to bring advertisements into its Maps app, and this could start as early as summer 2026.
The idea is simple. Businesses will be able to pay to appear at the top of search results inside Apple Maps.
For example, if someone searches for pizza or sushi, a restaurant that pays for promotion could show up first, even if other places are more relevant or closer. This is similar to how Google Maps already works today.
This move is part of Apple’s bigger strategy to grow its services business. This includes products like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, and its advertising platform. In 2025 alone, this division made more than 109 billion dollars.
Apple has already been expanding ads in its App Store and other apps like News and Stocks. Adding ads to Maps would be another step in increasing its revenue from advertising.
If this plan moves forward, users may start seeing paid listings when they search for places, making Apple Maps feel more like other ad-driven platforms.
