Android users can now more easily watch Apple TV content on their televisions, as Apple has added Google Cast support to the Android version of the Apple TV app.
Despite the update, Google Cast is only available on Android. The iOS version of the Apple TV app still does not support Google Cast, and the Android app continues to lack AirPlay support.
The addition brings a long-missing core feature to Apple TV on Android, which launched earlier this year without any native casting option. The timing is notable, coming just weeks after Netflix removed casting support from phones to most smart TVs, pushing users toward built-in TV apps instead.

To use Google Cast, Android users must update the Apple TV app to version 2.2. Once updated, the Cast icon appears in the top-right corner of the screen next to the mute button while playing content, as well as in the pause overlay during playback.
