Apple has officially started rolling out its latest software updates, bringing two major changes to its devices: the long-awaited Siri AI and a new set of tools designed to give parents more control over their children’s digital experiences.
The updates became available on September 14 alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and Apple’s other major software platforms.
The biggest change is Siri AI, which replaces the traditional Siri experience with a much more capable assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple says the new Siri is designed to understand personal context, answer questions using broader knowledge, recognize what is happening on the screen, and perform more actions across apps. Instead of simply responding to individual voice commands, Siri AI is designed to have more natural conversations and help users complete tasks across Apple devices.
Siri AI is deeply integrated across the Apple ecosystem, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. The new assistant is initially rolling out as a beta in English, while Apple says support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is coming in October.
The new Siri is also part of Apple’s broader push to make Apple Intelligence more useful in everyday apps. Rather than keeping AI features separate from the operating system, Apple is bringing intelligence directly into the experiences people already use, making tasks such as finding information, working with content, and interacting with apps more conversational.
At the same time, Apple is introducing a major expansion of its child-safety features. The company says the new tools are designed to help parents create safer and more age-appropriate digital experiences for children while making parental controls easier to manage.
The updated controls give parents more ways to manage what children can access, who they can communicate with, and how much time they spend using apps. Apple is also introducing features such as Ask to Browse and Time Allowances, alongside a redesigned Screen Time experience. These tools are intended to make it easier for parents to set boundaries without having to manage every individual setting manually.
Apple first previewed the new child-safety tools earlier this year, describing them as part of a broader effort to create safer digital experiences for younger users. The company said the features were developed with guidance from online safety and health experts.
The combination of Siri AI and expanded parental controls makes this software release one of Apple’s more significant updates in recent years.
