Apple is reportedly working on a new AI tool that could compete with ChatGPT and Google Search.
According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company has formed a new team named Answers, Knowledge, and Information to build what’s being described as an advanced “answer engine.”
This engine would be able to respond to user questions by pulling information from across the web, and it might be integrated into various Apple services such as Siri, Safari, and other apps — or even launched as a standalone application.
Apple is also actively hiring for this project. Job listings reportedly highlight a need for engineers with strong experience in search algorithms and engine development.
Although Apple has partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT features to iOS 18 and Siri, its own in-house AI improvements for Siri have faced repeated delays. The company’s growing push into AI may also force changes in its long-standing search partnership with Google, especially after Google’s recent antitrust legal challenges.
