Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26 for all compatible MacBooks and Mac desktops.
First unveiled at WWDC 2025 and tested through developer and public betas, Tahoe marks the last major macOS update for older Intel-based Macs equipped with the Apple T2 Security Chip.
The standout feature in this release is a major UI overhaul powered by Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language. Windows, buttons, notifications, and even the menu bar now feature glossy transparent effects that make displays feel larger and more immersive.
Tahoe also enhances Spotlight, which now ranks search results based on relevance and lets users perform quick actions like sending emails or creating notes without opening the apps. Finder customization has improved as well, with new options to change folder colors or even add emoji labels for better organization.
Another big addition is the new Phone app for Mac, which mirrors iOS functionality and lets users route calls directly from their iPhone to their Mac. The app supports recents, voicemails, and advanced calling features like Call Screening and Hold Assist. With Apple Intelligence baked in, users also get Live Translation for text, audio, FaceTime calls, and even iMessage conversations.
macOS Tahoe 26 is available as a free update today through the System Settings > Software Update menu.
