Apple has officially announced Apple Upgrade, a new leasing program that gives customers in the United States a more flexible way to get the latest iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad.

The service is available through the Apple Store online, the Apple Store app, and Apple retail stores, with financing provided by Klarna.

The new program offers 12- and 24-month lease options for iPhone and Apple Watch, while Mac and iPad models are available with 24- and 36-month plans. Monthly lease prices start at $17.99 for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad. Customers can further reduce their monthly payments by trading in an eligible device through Apple Trade In, and Apple Card users can earn 3% Daily Cash on lease payments.

Apple says the enrollment process is designed to be quick and simple. Customers can apply online or in-store within minutes, with Klarna performing a soft credit inquiry that does not affect their credit score. Once approved, they can complete their purchase as usual. In-store buyers can take their new device home immediately, while online customers can choose home delivery or in-store pickup. Apple will also continue to offer Personal Setup assistance and free Today at Apple sessions to help users get started with their new devices.

At the end of the lease, customers will have the option to upgrade to a newer Apple device, purchase the leased product with a one-time payment, or return it and exit the program. Users can manage their lease, payment schedule, and remaining balance through the Klarna app. AppleCare can also be added to eligible devices to provide protection throughout the lease period.

With the introduction of Apple Upgrade, Apple is discontinuing the iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments in the United States. Existing customers enrolled in the previous upgrade program will be able to switch to Apple Upgrade when eligible, continue using Apple Card Monthly Installments where available, purchase a device outright, or choose carrier financing.

Apple also highlighted the latest hardware available through the program, including the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro powered by the latest Apple silicon, iMac, Mac Studio, iPad Air, iPad Pro, and iPad mini. The company says the new leasing program is intended to give customers more flexibility when upgrading to Apple’s newest products without paying the full purchase price upfront.
