Apple briefly crossed the $5 trillion market capitalization mark during trading on Tuesday, becoming only the second publicly traded company ever to reach the historic valuation.
Although the milestone was short-lived, the iPhone maker finished the session with a market value of approximately $4.99 trillion, cementing its position as the world’s most valuable company.
Apple shares climbed as high as $342.89, pushing the company’s valuation to roughly $5.04 trillion before giving back some of the gains. The stock later traded around $339.33, leaving Apple with a market capitalization of about $4.99 trillion.
The achievement comes after Apple overtook Nvidia earlier this month to reclaim the title of the world’s most valuable company. Nvidia became the first company to surpass the $5 trillion valuation earlier this year and ended Tuesday’s session with a market value of around $4.78 trillion.
