Google is making it much easier to switch password managers on Android.
Users can now move both passwords and passkeys between supported services without having to export their credentials into a separate file.
The new process works at the Android operating-system level, allowing compatible password managers to transfer credentials directly between apps. That means there’s no need to create or handle an unencrypted text file during the import or export process.
The transfer currently works with Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden and Dashlane, with support for more password managers expected to arrive over time.
For users who have been putting off switching password managers because moving their saved credentials is a hassle, this should make the process much simpler while also providing a safer way to move sensitive login information.
