A new report released this week by the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) shows that dozens of AI-powered “nudify” apps are still widely available on major app stores, raising serious concerns about privacy, consent, and platform oversight.
According to the report, TTP identified 55 apps on the Google Play Store and 48 apps on Apple’s App Store that use artificial intelligence to digitally alter images of women, often producing sexualized content without consent. Together, these apps have been downloaded more than 705 million times worldwide and generated an estimated $117 million in revenue.
Following the findings, Google suspended several of the flagged apps, while Apple removed 28 apps, though two were later reinstated.
