YouTube Music is upgrading its lyrics sharing feature with generative AI, making shared lyrics more visually expressive.

The feature, first introduced last year, allowed users to share song lyrics with customizable background colors. Now, YouTube Music is taking it a step further by using AI to create unique backgrounds based on the lyrics you choose.

With the latest update, the “Share” button in the Lyrics view now shows a Gemini sparkle icon instead of the standard share symbol. Users can still select up to five lines of lyrics, but when choosing a background, a new AI option appears alongside the existing color choices. Once selected, YouTube Music displays a “Creating with AI” message while the image is generated, which usually takes a few seconds.

The AI-generated background is influenced by the selected lyrics, producing visuals that match the mood or theme of the song. For example, some generated images include elements like a clear sky or a coffee cup, depending on the lyrics. Users can tap the AI button again to regenerate a different image if they want a new look.

This feature is currently rolling out to both free users and YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States. It is available on both Android and iOS apps. The new lyrics-sharing upgrade joins other AI-powered features on YouTube Music, including the “Ask for music” option already available in the Home feed.
