WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that allows users to hide their location during calls. This is a significant privacy enhancement for the app, which has previously been criticized for its lack of privacy controls.
The new feature, called “Protect IP Address in Calls,” will be available to all users on Android and iOS devices. To enable the feature, users will need to go to Settings > Privacy > Advanced and toggle on the switch next to “Protect IP Address in Calls.”

Once the feature is enabled, WhatsApp will relay all calls through its own servers, rather than directly connecting callers to each other. This will prevent callers from seeing each other’s IP addresses, which can be used to track a person’s location.
