Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is putting battery life at the center of its design, with a massive 9,210mAh dual-cell battery. In some markets, Xiaomi is offering the phone with an even larger 10,000mAh single-cell battery.
The battery uses silicon-carbon technology with 16 percent silicon content, allowing Xiaomi to increase energy density without making the phone unusually bulky. Despite carrying a large battery, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is roughly the same size as Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, yet 8 grams lighter and slightly thinner.
Xiaomi claims the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max can provide up to three days of “worry-free use” on a single charge. The company also says the phone can deliver up to 37 hours of continuous video playback. While real-world battery performance will depend on usage, the large capacity gives the phone a significant advantage for users who spend long hours watching videos, browsing or using mobile apps.
The company also says the battery is designed to retain 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, which Xiaomi estimates could translate to around six years of use. The phone supports 100W wired charging, with a full charge taking just over an hour. Xiaomi says around 20 minutes of charging can provide approximately a day’s worth of power.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max also features a photochromic design that changes its appearance when exposed to sunlight. Away from direct sunlight, the phone appears mostly white.
The rest of the specifications are more modest compared with the enormous battery. The phone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset and is available with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also has a 6.83-inch display and ships with Android 16.
Xiaomi is promising a “6-year like-new software experience,” although the company has not confirmed exactly how many major Android version updates the phone will receive. The camera setup is also relatively basic, making it one of the less impressive parts of the device compared with its standout battery capacity.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max’s biggest attraction is therefore clear: a huge silicon-carbon battery packed into a phone that remains relatively thin and light, combined with 100W charging designed to reduce the time users need to spend connected to a charger.
