Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched a new tool called Grok Imagine.
This tool is different from others like Google’s Veo or OpenAI’s Sora because it allows users to create not safe for work (NSFW) content. While other platforms try to block sexual or adult content, Grok Imagine offers a special setting called Spicy mode, which lets users make images and videos with nudity or sexual themes.
Grok Imagine has a text-to-image feature, where you can type a description and get a picture based on it. It also has an image-to-video option that can turn pictures into short video clips. These clips can even include sounds, like in Google’s Veo 3. However, Grok Imagine does not allow users to create videos directly from text. To make a video, you need to either upload a picture or create one using Grok first.

The tool gives users a lot of freedom. You can create images in many styles, like realistic photos, anime, or drawings. There’s also a voice prompt option that lets users speak their ideas instead of typing. Elon Musk said that kids would enjoy this voice feature, which has raised some concerns because of the kind of content Grok can produce.
For video creation, users can choose from four modes called Custom, Normal, Fun, and Spicy. Musk calls Grok Imagine the “AI Vine,” referring to the short video app Vine that he has talked about bringing back.
Since its release, many users have shared what they made using Grok Imagine. Some of the Spicy creations include images of women showing private parts or anime characters dancing in swimsuits near SpaceX rockets. Musk said that users have already made over 34 million images using Grok Imagine just this week.
It is still not clear how much content control Grok Imagine really has. Some filters may stop users from making celebrity images, but previous tools from Grok were easy to trick. It is also not yet tested whether Spicy mode can remove clothes from real photos uploaded by users.

Grok Imagine is now available for SuperGrok and Premium Plus users through the iOS app. A limited version is also rolling out on Android, but so far it only allows image creation and not videos.
