X is changing how creators in the U.S. receive their earnings. Starting September 2, all U.S. payouts from X’s Original Content Rewards Program and creator subscriptions will be processed through X Money, the company’s payments service.
The biggest change is that creators can access their money instantly once a payout is sent. Previously, X processed creator payments every two weeks and required creators to reach a minimum payout of $30 before receiving their money.
X says creators who already use X Money do not need to do anything, as their next payout will automatically be sent through the service. Creators who are not yet using X Money will need to set it up to receive future payouts.
Starting today, U.S. payouts for Original Content Rewards and Subscriptions will be paid through @XMoney. You'll have access to your payouts the moment they’re sent.

The move also appears to make X Money the required payout option for creators in the U.S., replacing the previous system powered by Stripe. X confirmed that the change is mandatory for U.S. creators, while creators outside the U.S. will continue receiving their payouts through Stripe.Creator payouts will also count toward X Money’s direct deposit requirements. This can help users qualify for the service’s higher interest rate, with X Premium users currently eligible for a 6% APY compared with the standard 4% rate.
For tax reporting, X will issue a 1099-NEC to individuals receiving creator payouts. For creators operating through an LLC, X will collect the organization’s W-9 information to ensure the appropriate tax forms are issued.
