WhatsApp is rolling out several new features aimed at making group chats more useful and organized.
The company announced on Wednesday that users will soon get access to member tags, text stickers, and improved event reminders in group conversations.
The new member tags feature allows users to set a custom name for themselves within each group. This helps other members understand who you are or what role you play in that specific group. For example, you could appear as “Anna’s Dad” in a family group while using “Goalkeeper” in a football group. The tags are group-specific, giving users more flexibility and clarity.
WhatsApp is also adding text stickers, which let users turn any word or phrase into a sticker. By typing text into Sticker Search, users can instantly create a sticker and save it directly to their sticker collection without needing to send it in a chat first. This makes conversations more expressive and personalized.
Another useful addition is event reminders. When creating an event in a group chat, users can now set custom reminders for participants, helping ensure fewer people forget important plans, meetings, or celebrations shared in the group.
These updates build on WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to improve group chats. In recent years, the platform has added features such as sharing large files up to 2GB, sending HD photos and videos, screen sharing, voice chats, and other tools designed to support both casual and professional group communication.
