Meta has confirmed that it won’t roll out ads on WhatsApp’s Updates tab in the European Union until 2026.
While the company plans to introduce the ads globally over the next several months, it told Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC) that the EU will have more time to address data-sharing and privacy concerns related to the new ad model.
This delay provides a window for further discussions with regulators before implementation.
