Vietnam’s government has officially approved SpaceX to launch its Starlink satellite internet service in the country, according to state media reports released on Saturday.
The Ministry of Science and Technology has granted Starlink’s local unit permission to provide both fixed and mobile satellite internet services. The company also received approval to use radio frequencies and related radio equipment needed to operate in Vietnam.
Officials did not immediately respond to requests for confirmation outside normal business hours. However, the approval marks a major step forward for SpaceX as it continues expanding Starlink’s global footprint, particularly in Southeast Asia.
