Sony has announced a price increase for all PlayStation 5 models sold in the United States, with the new pricing set to take effect starting August 21, 2025.
The company cited inflation, global supply chain challenges, and U.S. import tariffs as key reasons for the hike.
The updated prices are as follows:
- PS5 Standard Edition (with disc drive): $549.99 (up from $499.99)
- PS5 Digital Edition: $499.99 (up from $449.99)
- PS5 Pro: $749.99 (up from $699.99)
Sony confirmed that accessories, including controllers and PlayStation VR hardware, will remain at their current prices.
This move comes after Sony raised PS5 prices earlier this year in Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, while the U.S. market had remained unaffected until now. The company said it could no longer absorb the extra costs created by economic headwinds and new tariffs, leading to this adjustment.
