Binance and derivatives exchange Deribit removed all API keys linked to SignalPlus on November 5 after the digital-asset trading infrastructure platform reported a potential security issue, according to Reuters.
Binance said in its official announcement that its own systems were unaffected and customer funds remained safe. Deribit said its investigation found no indication its systems or data had been affected.
The precaution severed SignalPlus connections to exchange accounts, interrupting trading and monitoring functions routed through the platform. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao also urged users who connected SignalPlus to other exchanges to revoke those API keys. The exchanges have not described the underlying technical issue.
SignalPlus provides options and derivatives trading infrastructure that connects traders to exchanges through API credentials. The companies have not disclosed how many users may be affected or confirmed unauthorized trading or financial losses.
The move follows Binance’s separate October 29 $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft, for which the exchange later reported that $2.85 billion had been frozen or intercepted.
