The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has warned the public about a scam where fraudsters pretend to be DEA agents.

These scammers try to steal money or personal information by threatening people.

The DEA has made it clear that real agents will never call and ask for money, personal details, or payments through cash or gift cards. Legitimate law enforcement officers only notify people in person or by an official letter.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the DEA, report it to the FBI at www.ic3.gov. You can also report fraud to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

If you have already shared personal details, such as your Social Security number, visit www.identitytheft.gov to learn how to protect yourself from identity theft.

Stay alert and protect your information from scammers!
