Salesforce has announced that it will buy Informatica for about $8 billion.

This deal will help Salesforce improve its data management and AI-powered products.

Salesforce stopped making big purchases in recent years after pressure from investors to focus on profits. But now, it’s making its biggest move since buying Slack in 2021 for $28 billion.

By adding Informatica, Salesforce wants to better manage business data, which is very important for building smarter AI tools. The company is already offering AI agents (called Agentforce) that can do tasks like answering customer questions or helping with hiring, all without needing a human.

Salesforce will pay $25 per Informatica share, which is about 30% more than its recent market price. The deal is expected to close in early 2025 and should help Salesforce earn more money in the long run.
