Rockstar has confirmed that some of its data was exposed after a security breach involving a third-party service provider.
The hacking group ShinyHunters has taken credit for the incident, claiming it accessed Rockstar’s Snowflake systems through Anodot, a tool used for analytics and cost monitoring. The group says it is demanding a ransom and has set an April 14 deadline, warning that it will release the stolen data if its demands are not met.
In a statement shared with Kotaku, Rockstar described the breach as limited and said it has not affected its operations or its players. While the company has not detailed exactly what was taken, early indications suggest the attackers focused on internal business data rather than player information. This could include financial details, marketing materials, or contracts involving major partners such as Sony and Microsoft.
This incident follows another major security issue Rockstar faced in 2022, when a large number of GTA VI development videos were leaked online by the hacking group Lapsus$.
