Proton has rolled out a major update for its encrypted Mail app, introducing a refreshed layout along with a brand-new offline mode.
The feature allows users to access their inbox without an internet connection, making it possible to read, write, and compose emails even when offline. Once the device reconnects, messages automatically sync, offering a convenient way to stay productive during flights or in areas without Wi-Fi or mobile service.
The update also brings a redesigned layout, with the Compose button moved from the top-right corner to the bottom of the screen for easier access. Proton says it has improved the overall performance of the app, making scrolling, archiving, and replying to emails up to “twice as fast” compared to previous versions.
In addition, Proton has aligned features across platforms. Both iOS and Android versions of the app will now share the same capabilities, with Android users finally gaining access to snooze and schedule functions that were previously exclusive to iOS.
The new Proton Mail app update is rolling out to users starting today on both iOS and Android. With these changes, Proton continues to enhance its secure email service while improving usability and speed for its global user base.
