OpenAI has started rolling out its latest AI models, GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini, to ChatGPT.
The update is available to all paid users, including those on Plus, Pro, and Team plans. Free users won’t get access to GPT-4.1 yet, but OpenAI says it will be available soon for Enterprise and Education accounts. GPT-4.1 mini is now the default model for everyone, including free users, replacing the older GPT-4o mini.
According to OpenAI, both GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini are better at coding and following instructions compared to previous versions.
They also support a much larger context window, with the ability to process up to 1 million tokens, far more than the 128,000-token limit of GPT-4o. OpenAI also mentioned that these models are faster and more efficient, making them ideal for everyday coding and AI tasks.
While a smaller model called GPT-4.1 Nano was introduced earlier for developers, it is not included in this ChatGPT update.
