OpenAI appears to be testing a new ChatGPT Pro Max subscription that could cost $500 per month, although the company has not officially announced the plan or confirmed when it might become available.

The reported plan appears to be aimed at heavy ChatGPT users who want significantly higher usage limits than those offered by existing Pro subscriptions. According to TestingCatalog, the unannounced Pro Max option has started appearing in ChatGPT’s subscription interface alongside the existing Plus and Pro plans.

One version of the subscription page reportedly lists Pro Max at $500 per month, while another shows a price of $600 after local taxes or VAT. The most notable description for the new tier is “Fastest Work and Codex,” suggesting that speed could be one of its main advantages.

The plan is also said to include access to OpenAI’s most capable frontier models, maximum memory, 100GB of file storage and early access to new features. However, some of these benefits are already associated with the existing $200 Pro plan, so it remains unclear whether they would become exclusive to Pro Max.

OpenAI has not announced Pro Max, meaning its exact usage limits and other benefits are still unknown. The new tier could potentially provide substantially higher allowances than the current Pro plans, but that has not been confirmed.

The “Fastest Work and Codex” wording has also led to speculation that the new subscription could make use of Cerebras hardware. OpenAI has been working with Cerebras on high-speed AI inference, and Codex-Spark previously launched on Cerebras hardware at more than 1,000 tokens per second. OpenAI has also demonstrated GPT-5.6 Sol running at up to 750 output tokens per second in a Cerebras-powered Ultrafast mode.

However, there is currently no confirmation from either OpenAI or Cerebras that Cerebras hardware will power the reported Pro Max tier. The connection remains speculation based on the wording used for the proposed subscription.
