OpenAI is moving forward with plans to introduce ads in ChatGPT, but the initial testing will reportedly be limited to company employees.

According to journalist Alex Heath, OpenAI’s Head of Applications Fidji Simo recently told staff that ads are being explored in an internal version of ChatGPT.

For now, there is no clear timeline for when ads might appear for regular users. It also remains uncertain whether ads would be shown to paying subscribers. While higher-tier plans, such as Plus and Pro, may remain ad-free, lower-cost options, like Go, could potentially include limited advertising in the future.

Earlier reports suggest OpenAI is considering sponsored content that could appear within AI responses or alongside them in a sidebar. OpenAI has acknowledged that it is exploring ads, stating that any approach would aim to respect user trust as ChatGPT continues to grow.
