Apple’s iPhone 16 event is just three days away, and a fresh leak via 9to5Mac reveals some exciting features. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to support 4K video recording at a smooth 120 frames per second (fps). Additionally, a new camera trigger button will let users switch from the default camera app to a third-party app.

The leak also mentions that when paired with an external SSD, users will be able to shoot in ProRes quality at 4K 120fps. Apple is also upgrading its QuickTake shortcut for recording videos, which will now shoot in 4K instead of 1080p. Other new features include support for the JPEG-XL image format, the ability to pause video recordings, wind noise reduction, special video modes, and better machine learning (ML) for improving skin tones. Although the sensors might support 8K video, that feature could be saved for a future iPhone.

The new “Camera Button” on the iPhone’s side will have slide gestures for adjusting zoom or exposure and will respond to soft and hard presses to control focus and shooting. It will use the iOS 18 API, which means users can replace the default camera app with another one, like Halide.

Previous rumors are also confirmed, such as the Pro and Pro Max models featuring 5x zoom tetraprism lenses and enhanced 48-megapixel ultrawide cameras.
