Microsoft has confirmed that Outlook Lite will shut down on May 26, marking the end of the lightweight Android app it introduced in 2022 for phones with low storage and areas with slower internet speeds.

The company had already signaled the app’s retirement last year when it announced plans to remove it from the Google Play Store in October 2025, but it has now made clear that the app will soon stop working for people who still have it installed.

According to a support page from Microsoft, users are being encouraged to move to the standard Outlook Mobile app for what the company describes as a more secure and feature-rich email experience. People using Outlook Lite will still be able to access their existing emails, calendar entries, and attachments by signing into Outlook Mobile with the same account.

Microsoft will also direct users to the Google Play Store so they can download the regular Outlook app.
