Microsoft is set to increase the prices of its Xbox Series X and Series S consoles in the United States next month. Beginning October 3rd, the Xbox Series X will cost $649.99, up from its current $599.99, while the Xbox Series S will move to $399.99, up from $379.99.

The company cited “changes in the macroeconomic environment” — widely interpreted as tariffs — as the main reason for the hike. Prices for Xbox consoles outside the US will remain unchanged, and accessories like controllers and headsets will not see any increases.

The new US pricing is as follows:

ProductNew PricePrevious PriceIncrease
Xbox Series S (512GB)$399.99$379.99+$20
Xbox Series S (1TB)$449.99$429.99+$20
Xbox Series X$649.99$599.99+$50
Xbox Series X Digital$599.99$549.99+$50
Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition$799.99$729.99+$70

This marks the second Xbox price increase in 2025. Microsoft had already raised the price of its consoles, controllers, and headsets worldwide in May, pushing the Xbox Series X up by $100 and the Series S by $80. In total, US customers have seen the Series X jump by $150 and the Series S by $100 in just six months.

The 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition has been hit hardest, climbing from its original launch price of $599.99 nearly a year ago to $799.99 — a staggering $200 increase in just 12 months.

Interestingly, Microsoft recently reversed its decision to raise the prices of its first-party Xbox games to $80 this holiday, following backlash in July.
