Microsoft has quietly resolved a bug that disrupted the Start Menu jump list feature in Windows 10 version 22H2, impacting users’ ability to access recently opened files through app right-click menus.

The issue, which began surfacing in March 2025, stemmed from a Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) that introduced a new account control experience. According to Microsoft’s update on the Windows release health dashboard, the bug mainly affected Windows 10 Home and Pro users who installed update KB5052077 or later.

In response to mounting user reports, Microsoft paused the rollout on April 25, 2025, to prevent further disruptions. The company confirmed that users who were previously impacted should no longer experience the issue, provided their systems are up to date and connected to the internet.

Jump lists offer a handy shortcut for accessing recent files and app-specific tasks directly from the Start menu or taskbar. The malfunction temporarily removed this convenience for users relying on the feature for productivity.

Microsoft recommends that affected users restart their systems after confirming a stable internet connection to ensure the fix is applied automatically.
