Microsoft is rolling out a redesigned version of Microsoft 365 Copilot with a cleaner look and faster performance.
The company says the updated Copilot loads twice as fast and gives more reliable, better-structured answers that are easier to read and scan.
The new design is coming to both desktop and mobile devices. One of the biggest changes is a feature Microsoft calls “progressive disclosure.” Instead of showing too many tools and controls at once, Copilot will now display options based on what you ask it to do. This should make the experience feel simpler and less cluttered.
Microsoft has also upgraded the prompt box inside Copilot. Users can now format text directly while typing, and the box will automatically expand when they type or paste longer content.
The update comes shortly after Google introduced a major redesign for its Gemini AI app, which also focuses on giving more organized responses based on the user’s prompt.
Inside Microsoft 365 apps, Copilot will continue to open in a side panel, where it can answer questions, suggest edits, and make changes to documents. Users can also open a chat window directly from a paragraph, spreadsheet cell, or slide, making it easier to use Copilot while working inside Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
