LinkedIn is taking its verification system beyond its platform, making it available to external websites and apps.

This move allows platforms to integrate LinkedIn’s identity verification tools without needing to build their system. Adobe is one of the first major companies to adopt the new feature.

Now, creators who are verified on LinkedIn can display a “Verified on LinkedIn” badge on Adobe’s Behance and inside Adobe’s new Content Authenticity app. When these verified users post their work using Adobe’s Content Credentials tool, their verified identity will also appear with the content when shared on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn’s vice president of trust, Oscar Rodriguez, said the goal is to fight rising online impersonation. “It’s getting progressively cheaper and easier to pretend you’re someone you’re not,” he said. “Authenticity is super important for LinkedIn, the platform is founded on this premise of trust.”

He added that the partnership with Adobe helps users better understand who created content and whether their identity has been verified. This kind of verification is becoming more important as online platforms struggle with fake profiles and inauthentic content.

LinkedIn first launched its verification system in 2023. It allows users to confirm details like their identity, workplace, or education using a government ID or company email. Since then, over 80 million users have verified themselves using the feature. Other companies now integrating the new version include TrustRadius, G2, and UserTesting.

The move comes at a time when several social media platforms are creating or changing their verification systems. This week, Bluesky launched its verification feature for authentic accounts, while Twitter, now known as X, changed its verification rules after Elon Musk’s takeover — making verification available only to paid subscribers.

By expanding its trusted verification tools to the broader web, LinkedIn aims to offer a more reliable way to prove identity online, helping both creators and viewers feel more confident about what they see and who it comes from.
