Instagram is experimenting with new ways to give users greater control over the content they see in their feeds.

According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the platform is testing several features that make its “Your Algorithm” tool easier to access and more central to the overall app experience.

The “Your Algorithm” feature, first introduced last year, allows users to tell Instagram which topics they want to see more of and which they’d rather avoid. Mosseri said the company wants to transform it from a hidden setting into something users can interact with regularly. He also noted that some of the ideas are currently being tested, some will roll out soon, and others may never make it into the final product.

Among the concepts being explored are a shortcut that appears after pulling down on the Instagram feed, a prompt that shows up when swiping up from a Reel, and new buttons below Reels that let users instantly choose to see more or fewer similar videos.

Despite these efforts, many users responding to Mosseri’s post shared a different priority. The most common request was for Instagram to simply show more posts from the accounts they already follow, rather than relying heavily on recommendation algorithms.
