Hawaiian Airlines has confirmed a cybersecurity incident that disrupted some of its IT systems, though flight operations continue as scheduled.
The airline shared the update on Thursday, stating that “some of our IT systems” had been impacted but did not disclose further technical details.
The use of the term “cybersecurity event” often points to potential ransomware activity, where attackers lock systems and demand payment. However, the airline has not confirmed whether ransomware was involved.
Hawaiian Airlines, now owned by Alaska Air Group, emphasized that it has taken steps to safeguard its operations. “Our flights are operating safely and as scheduled,” the company stated.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that its safety oversight team is in contact with the airline. “There has been no impact on safety, and the airline continues to operate safely. We are monitoring the situation,” the FAA said in a statement.
